Damages for breach of privacy on Facebook
NEWS! A woman won £15,000 in damages after a family member published a Facebook post alleging that she suffered from mental health. The post was made a private Facebook Group but still, the court ruled that publishing information about someone's health, without their consent, is considered as breach of their right to private life. Note, that it is often irrelevant whether the private information is true or false. You need to be very careful about what you are posting about other people. No one is a fair game!
In this case, the defendant did not mention the person by name but it was obvious to everyone who knew her that he was referring to her.
